Frequently Asked Questions
AcroForm is the standard form-field format built into the PDF specification. Every mainstream PDF reader — Adobe Acrobat, Foxit, macOS Preview, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and mobile PDF apps — can detect and fill AcroForm fields. This tool produces genuine AcroForm PDFs, so the forms you generate work everywhere.
Six types:
• Text — single-line input for names, dates, numbers
• Multiline — multi-line text area for comments and addresses
• Checkbox — toggle on/off (great for agreements)
• Radio — pick one from a group (perfect for Yes/No, gender, ratings)
• Dropdown — combo box with a predefined list of options
• List — multi-select list box (pick multiple items)
Create multiple radio buttons and give them all the same Group Name. For example, for a Yes/No question, add two radio buttons, set both groups to agree, and give them different option values (yes and no). Readers will automatically treat them as one mutually-exclusive group.
The tool auto-assigns the same default group to new radios, so placing several radios in a row keeps them grouped — you only need to edit the group name if you want to start a new group.
Yes. Click any field to select it — the properties panel opens in the sidebar. You can rename it, change its default value, mark it as required, resize it with the corner handles, and drag it to reposition. The red × button (or Delete key) removes it.
For text fields, checkboxes, dropdowns, and option lists — each name must be unique. If you use a duplicate, the save will fail with an error. Rename one of the fields to continue.
Radio buttons are the exception: multiple radio buttons must share a group name to work together.
Yes. The output uses the standard AcroForm specification. Open it in Acrobat, and the fields will be interactive — clickable, typable, and saveable. The same works in Foxit, macOS Preview, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and every mobile PDF app.
No. Everything happens in your browser using pdf.js and pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device.
