Our Backlink Checker is Coming Soon
Reliable backlink data requires a paid API (Moz, Ahrefs, Semrush). We are evaluating the best source so we can offer accurate results — for free, like every other XToolBoost tool.

Coming SoonWhy Reliable Backlink Data Isn't Free
Unlike most of our tools, backlink data can't be collected from your browser or a public API. Here's the honest reality of how backlink checkers work behind the scenes — and why we're taking extra time to build this one properly.
The problem with backlink data
To know who links to a website, you need a constantly-updated crawl of the entire web — billions of pages, refreshed daily. Building and maintaining that crawl costs tens of millions of dollars per year. Only a handful of companies have done it:
- Ahrefs — known for the freshest backlink index. API access starts at $99/month.
- Moz — the original link authority tool. API access starts at $99/month.
- Semrush — comprehensive but focused on paid search. API access starts at $139/month.
- Majestic — trust flow and citation flow metrics. API access starts at $49/month.
How we plan to keep it free
We are looking at three approaches:
- Free-tier quotas. Each tool offers a small free tier (Moz Link Explorer: 10 queries/month). We can pool these across multiple API keys to serve more users without paying.
- Ad-supported access. Users who watch an ad get one free lookup. Revenue from the ad pays for the API call. Everyone wins.
- Rate-limited free access. 1 check per IP per hour, unlimited for waitlist members. Heaviest users fund the tool, casual users never pay.
Our goal is simple: free for everyone, forever. But we won't release a half-broken tool that gives wrong data. That would hurt your SEO more than help it.
Free Backlink Tools You Can Use Today
While we finish development, here are the legitimate free options that already work:
"yoursite.com" -site:yoursite.com in Google to see pages mentioning your brand. Not a true backlink check but reveals unlinked mentions.Frequently Asked Questions

What is a dofollow vs nofollow link?
rel="nofollow" attribute, which tells Google not to count it as a ranking signal. Modern Google treats nofollow as a hint rather than a directive, but dofollow links still carry more ranking value.
