🔎 Search Text in PDF Client

Find any word or phrase across all pages of your PDF. See context snippets, jump between matches, and export your findings.

Works on PDFs with a text layer. Digital PDFs and OCR'd scans work perfectly. Original scanned PDFs (no OCR) have no text to search — run them through our OCR PDF tool first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Three common reasons: (1) Your PDF is a scanned image with no text layer — run OCR PDF first. (2) The word is spelled differently (try case-insensitive mode). (3) The text is in a font that doesn't extract cleanly — try a shorter search term.

Case — when checked, "Apple" won't match "apple". Unchecked (default), case is ignored. Whole word — matches only full words, so "cat" won't match "category". Regex — treats your input as a regular expression for advanced patterns like \d{4} for 4-digit numbers.

Yes. Type the whole phrase (e.g. annual report). The search handles spaces inside the text layer as expected. Whitespace is normalized, so extra spaces or line breaks won't break the match.

Up to 1,000 matches per search. This cap keeps the results list fast and prevents memory issues on PDFs where you might be searching for something like "the" that appears thousands of times. Narrow your search if you hit the cap.

No. Everything runs in your browser using pdf.js — search, highlighting, and export all happen locally.
